Repair Work
Many stained glass windows were created fifty or a hundred years ago. Over time, even the best built stained glass windows can start to deteriorate. The evidence of this is in sagging or bowing out of the stained glass windows, and the more obvious cracked, broken or missing glass. Traditional leaded stained glass windows are exposed to the elements and can deteriorate faster resulting in the weakening of the lead.
Glass Fusion Studios restores these stained glass windows to their original condition, many times matching the same architectural stained glass as the original window.
We have repaired and restored several dozen stained glass windows which the owners thought were beyond repair. By restoring these stained glass windows, the owners were able to retain the beauty that the original craftsman created.

This stained glass window was a complete restoration
for a historic home in Baltimore. Maryland.
The stained glass window was buckling from weak lead and there were several pieces that were broken. More importantly it leaked when it rained. The stained glass window was completely taken apart, each piece cleaned of old cement, broken pieces replaced, releaded and cemented. Cementing makes a stained glass window weather and water tight. It's important to note that not all stained glass windows are colored, this one is obviously all clear, but textured glass. |
